Intrigue Marketing: Keep Your Audience Engaged and Wanting More

admin • July 11, 2023

Ever heard of  #Intrigue Marketing ? Do you want to stay in your customers’ minds long after the interaction ends? Intrigue marketing a powerful tool that can dramatically enhance your brand engagement, and create a sense of curiosity and anticipation around your products or services. The power of curiosity is immense, and when leveraged correctly, it can drive your audience to engage more deeply with your brand.

Intrigue Marketing is that cliff-hanger at the end of your favourite show or that mystery box that you just can’t wait to open. It’s a powerful tool that can dramatically enhance your brand engagement, and create a sense of curiosity and anticipation around your products or services.

Intrigue Marketing channels curiosity, fosters a connection, and most importantly, it makes your brand memorable! And isn’t that what we all want? Here are a few quick tips for you :

Never underestimate your target audience

Your audience is smarter than you think, leaving your messaging and imagery open for interpretation instead of it being spoon fed places a degree of trust in the consumers’ understanding, which increases their own sense of value. The ability to spark conversation within your audience creates a dynamic whereby your audience promote and advocate for your brand through their own interactions.

Utilization of emotion is integral

Emotional trigger should be the cornerstone to any great campaign. Its importance cannot be understated and must not be overlooked. It can establish a connection constructed with positive emotion which will illuminate your brand in the consumers’ mind.

Authenticity & social responsibility

Your audience is bombarded with a constant flow of content and information on a daily basis. An average person sees anywhere from 50 to 400 ads per day. This saturation has made audiences better at distinguishing what’s authentic and what is not.
In a time where social responsibility is at an all-time high, brands are now expected to be more ethical and have certain moral values. You must convey genuine intent in caring for these trends and not just taking them at face value as to avoid ‘woke’ culture.

Example No.1 – IKEA Campaign ‘the Tortoise and the Hare’

IKEA  launched a successful campaign raising awareness around sleep with the message “Tomorrow Starts Tonight”. It is based around the old fable of #‘The Tortoise and the Hare’, told the nostalgic prequel with a contemporary twist – setting the tortoise as the desirable target for people to go to bed at a reasonable time, get a good night’s rest before the big race. It positions its bedroom furniture and bedding as the vehicle for achieving optimal rest.
The ad seamlessly connects with its audience on a personal and emotional level, creating both intrigue and authenticity.

Example No.2 – Apple ‘Think Different’ campaign

Another legendary ad campaign changed Apple’s fate in 1997: “Think Different.” The ad didn’t say a word about any Apple product. It didn’t try to sell a feature or benefit.

Instead, it created intrigue, implying that there were things we didn’t know yet.

It inspired its audience to break free from convention and embrace their creativity, and reminded the world of Apple’s core values of innovation and design. It created a sense of rebellion and nonconformity around the brand and attracted a loyal following of customers who identified with Apple ’s values.

Intrigue is a powerful tool that taps into the human desire for novelty and uncertainty, triggering dopamine release in the brain, and creating a positive feedback loop that keeps the audience engaged and wanting more. By harnessing psychological drivers, marketers can create ads and content that are not only engaging and entertaining but also effective at driving conversions and building greater brand loyalty.

Remember, the goal is to pique curiosity- keep your audience guessing and wanting more.  Intrigue Marketing  isn’t just about getting attention; it’s about sustaining it.
